Qualified candidates must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to commute to job sites throughout the Charlottesville area. Position OverviewThe Skilled Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of residential construction tasks while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship. This role requires experience with both rough and finish carpentry, the ability to interpret construction documents, and a strong understanding of residential building practices. Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Read and interpret architectural plans, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturer requirements</li><li>Perform rough carpentry tasks, including framing walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs</li><li>Complete finish carpentry work with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship</li><li>Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently</li><li>Assist with various construction tasks across multiple trades to support project schedules and budgets</li><li>Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites</li><li>Follow project plans, building standards, and company quality expectations</li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned based on project needs</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in residential construction or custom home building</li><li>Experience with new home construction, renovations, or high-end residential remodeling</li><li>Ability to read and understand architectural plans, blueprints, and construction documents</li><li>Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, and industry best practices</li><li>Experience with multiple construction trades, including electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, and finish carpentry preferred</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship</li><li>Reliable transportation and ability to commute to job sites in the Charlottesville area</li></ul>Compensation<ul><li>$25 - $35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications</li><li>Opportunity to work on high-quality custom residential projects</li><li>Professional, team-oriented work environment</li></ul>Ready to join the Peter Johnson Builders team?
